Fresnel Optics Inc. Acquires Wavelength Optics
Rochester, New York – Fresnel Optics Inc., a Reflexite Company, has acquired Wavelength Optics in Sacramento, California. Dr. Michael Foley, President of Fresnel Optics, explained that "Reflexite’s Management of Light ® business strategy calls for the exploitation of our competencies in optical engineering, microreplication, and polymer processing into new markets. We will use this acquisition as the launching pad for our new Reflexite Instrumentation Optics business."
Wavelength Optics was founded by Fernando Erismann in 1996 and quickly became known for their expertise in microstructured optics based on refractive and diffractive optical elements. Their main business has been in providing injection molded Fresnel lens arrays to the Passive Infra-Red (PIR) industry for motion sensor applications. They have also developed digital imaging lenses for digital cameras, scanners, and video conferencing. Mr. Erismann explained that "joining Reflexite will add a lot of capabilities to our group that will allow us to provide better solutions for our customers."
"Because many of our Display Optics customers are on the West Coast and in Asia, Fresnel Optics will also utilize the Sacramento office to get closer to our customers", Foley added. John Harvey, Product Manager for Digital Projection Products, will relocate to Sacramento to assist in growing Fresnel’s business.
